Printing Multi Photos at Harvey Norman or Norman Ross

I've got a quick video to share with you for the weekend...it's on how I get my photos printed at different sizes.

I moved away from printing at home because I wasn't getting the quality I wanted for my pages, but I missed being able to print at different sizes - because most of my shots filled the frame, so there was no room for croping to get a smaller pic.

On another note, I'm a matte girl all the way - I know its a divided field, but when it comes to fingerprints on photos, you can't beat a matte finish!

How to change Filename Extensions in Windows XP | Anything, but not Everything

Extension is the 3 letter term used after the dot in a filename like .exe for executable files .txt for text files .doc for office documents .xls for spread sheets, it may sometimes be just two letters long like .pl for Perl language files. By default windows doesnot show you the extension of a file, only those files which it are not yet associated with any program are shown along with their extensions. Rest of the common file types dont have extensions displayed, when you try to change a file’s extension when its extension is not displayed you will just end up adding the new extension to the filename and not to the extension part of it, like you have a spreadsheet named accounts which is actually accounts.xls and you want to change it to a text file called accounts.txt when you just rename it you will end up renaming it to accounts.txt.xls where accounts.txt is the filename part and .xls is the extension part. So the solution for this is to make windows display the extensions of all files, to do this open Windows Explorer or commonly known as the My Computer and go to the Tools Menu (Alt + t) and then click Folder Options, in the dialog box change to the View tab and look for Hide extensions for known files and uncheck it and click OK.

This article was such a life saver for me this weekend!
I've just borrowed my sisters camera (indefinitely *wink*) to make some movies, but after finally completing them I went to edit them only to find that my software wouldn't recognise the files...a little googling told me that I needed to change the files extension - simple right??

Yes, back in the olden days (hahaha) it was a simple little task - but having not changed a file extension for a few years (possibly 10) I discovered that things had changed...but with the help of google my life became simple again.

Apparently it's a particular problem if you're using a JVC camera - you need to change the MOD extension to MPG  - phew!

Now if I could only get ALL the files I want OFF the camera...there's a couple there that I can see, but they're not showing up in the files on the PC.

Any suggestions??!

Secret Recipe

Ok, It's obviously not so secret (I'm sharing it on the internet) - but it's the simplest & yummiest dip recipe.

I pinched it off my sister a couple of years ago - well it seems like a couple of years ago, but I was living in Australia at the time - so it's got to be over 10 years ago!!

Lordy! How times flies!!

Anyway, summer is just around the corner & this dip is great with vege sticks and really it couldn't be easier:

Mix 1/2 jar of Corn Relish (I like Cerebos) with 1 tub of Sour Cream (I usually go the Lite version).

Photography Tip

My grandson came over the other night for a bit of baby sitting & I couldn't resist grabbing the camera to get some snaps of his gorgeousness!!

One tip I have learned along my photography journey is when you're photographing children you'll get some awesome shots if you get down low.

So there I was rolling around the back yard on my belly & I snapped this one - ADORABLE!!

Another tip is to take HEAPS of shots - he's so fast that alot of my shots were blurry LOL.

Now that my mojo is back in town I can't wait to scrap some of the pics I took.

Swipe Files

Last week I told you about how I keep track ideas off line in my sketch folder.

I also keep a swipe file on my computer for cool projects that I come across.

Have you ever found the COOLEST project & book marked the page, only to go back & never be able to find it again??

That has happened to me waaayyy to many times, so what I do now when I see a a cool project is I save it to my swipe file.

I find it easy to be organised on the computer, its so much easier to file things virtually, that to dive into the papers on my desk ;o)

Here's how I have mine organised:

I have a folder in "My Pictures" called "Swipe File"

Then I have sub folders:

Cards
Layouts
Boxes
Projects

So it's always easy to find great ideas when I'm in a pinch....and very handy on those occasions when the internet is down ;o)
