Stampin' Up! Poppys for ANZAC Day

I felt like scrapbooking this morning & have been playing with my Stampin' Up! re-inkers over the last couple of days.

I bought a spritzer bottle from one of the plastic shops quite a while ago with the intention of playing with reinkers & have FINALLY got around to it.

I filled the bottle about 1/4 full with water & added 15 drops of ink into it, gave it a test & then added a couple more drops for a deeper colour.

Then I grabbed some tissue wrap (white) & gave it a good spritz, dried it with my heat gun & repeated a couple of times for fun :o)

Once I was happy with it I cut some spiral flowers & well, they didn't turn out exactly like I had hoped - but I thought they looked quite poppyish.

I have been having fun scrapbooking again - and I've been digging into my older papers - I love these from the 2009 Spring Mini (Walk in the Park range). It just goes to show that you really should grab paper packs while they're available from the mini catalogues - cos once they go there's no coming back!

I picked up some old sheet music while we were down in Napier during the Art Deco weekend & you can see that I've spritzed that too..and I'm just loving  my Frames With Flourish stamp set for journaling spots.

And while this layout has nothing to do with ANZAC day I know that by making these flowers I took some time to reflect on the sacrifices made for me.

I can't even imagine...well, I probably wouldn't be here let alone scrapbooking if the war had ended differently.

So a huge thank you to those who served their country & made a difference and gave us a world of freedom.

So if you want to make some spiral poppies I think tissue wrap will work best because of it's softness (you can get gorgeous, bolder spiral flowers from designer paper).

All you need to do is cut a square of paper (I've used 2 layers for these flowers) & then cut out a circle & cut around in a spiral. You'll end of with a knob in the middle.

Roll your paper from the outside to the knob, add a glue dot to the knob & secure your spiral in place.

It might take a few tries, but once you get the hang of it you'll want to make dozens!

Easter Hunt Bags

The cousins are coming over for an egg hunt today & I whipped up some bags last night...put the finishing touches on this morning - the extra hour is coming in handy today :o)

These were so simple to whip up!

The paper bags have been in my stash since forever....do you remember when I used to make paper bag albums?? 

I had a little rummage for paper & would you believe this comes from the Stampin' Up! Pink Flamingo range...more versatile than I thought...I used some of these papers in my Christmas cards too!

Super simple to make eggs with the fabulous oval punches from Stampin' Up!

I pulled out the Timeless Type sizzlets again for the initials...loving those!

And the little chick comes from A Good Egg stamp set....stamped & mounted the same as I did for the NZ Women's Weekly project - 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch & Scallop Circle Punch.

That ribbon....loving it - it was from last year's Stampin' Up! promo, do you remember the free bundles?? I managed to accumulate a bit of a stash LOL!

Earlier this week I was thinking about the egg hunt we did in 2008 & searched my archives for the cute bags I made then...

Oh my goodness those adorable kids were just babies!!!

Last year I was a little lapse in my preparations, but this year I'm back in force - YAY!

Well, the extra hour I had up my sleeve has slipped away - so I'd better start getting ready for the guests!

Valentine's Treats

Well I was a lucky lady this morning..I woke up to find some beautiful flowers awaiting me:

We'd usually go out to breakfast on Valentine's Day - but seeing as Taigy is away this weekend, we're going to have Eggs Benedict for dinner when she gets home :o)

Wayno just got a bottle of wine, a card & a little hand made gift box (which was) full of kisses - and there's a card for Ravey & Taigy too - so we're all happy.

I {Heart} My Stamp Club

I love my Stamp Club.

I like to treat my Stamp Club members by giving them great projects.

I don't think I shared with you the project we made for January...we got in early for Valentine's Day & now I'm sitting ahead of the ball game with cards for Wayne and both of the kids - heaven help us if they miss out on a day to celebrate love!

Raven says to me the other day "Mum, that's all you ever say...I love you Ravey." Poor child! LOL!

So we made these gorgeous boxes filled with mini cards and decorated with A Happy Heart, which was one of the very first stamp sets I bought when I became a demonstrator.

As part of my stamp club a project is included each month to help keep you motivated, inspired & creating...so you're essentially getting a free class each month as well.

Oh my GOODNESS..what an amazing night I had!!

We celebrated my sister's wedding last night & saw the New Decade in with a big BANG!

Dave & Lisa had the most amazing ceremony at Long Bay Restaurant with the children, bridesmaids & Bride all dancing down the aisle - sooo cool - not sure where the video camera is, but if it worked I'll definitely be uploading to youtube!

I have been very busy over the past couple of weeks helping to prepare for the big day and I am so pleased that I was able to be such a big part of the event.

From the designing of the invitations, through to being photographer & MC, as well as being part of the team that was there to cover all those little bits & pieces like planning the table settings, customizing the flower girl dresses with ribbon & helping with make-up - it was such an honour & a privilidge to be part of something so cool...and you & I both know that I absolutely could not have done it without my honey Wayno to pick up my slack - the man is AMAZING!!

What an awesome way to herald in a new decade - this one is going to be GREAT!!!!

I hope your new year celebrations were fabulous...mine sure made a nice change from the usual :o)

By the way I use picasa 3 to create my collages - it's super easy to use & it's a free download from google.
